Wanna skate?

On the way out to California (last week), we stopped at this gas station rest stop like place around midnight to grab some snacks and stretch a bit and get ready for the remaining 2 hours of the drive. While I was hanging out side the car stretching these two guys pull up in a Honda. The driver gets out does a few stretches and then says to his friend "Wanna skate?".

They walked around the the trunk of their car pulled out two skateboards and had themselves a session. It got me thinking about how as kids, we use to go to a parking lots and just skate. The simplicity of just pulling out your board and having a quick session on the board. Clear your mind. Get some exercise.

In our hectic adult lives it's easy to loose sight of how simple things use to be when we where kids. The simple act of going out and playing for 15 minutes could make a world of difference in our day. For me right now mountain biking is my form of play and stress relief. It's not as accessible as skateboarding. When you have only a few blocks of time here and there it's really hard to justify going for a quick ride when it takes at least 40 minutes to get the bike loaded up, get your gear ready and drive to the nearest trail head. Sometimes you just want to get a quick session and then get back to the grind.

Tomorrow I'm going to go shopping for a board.
